Dr. Mitch Keil is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been serving the Southern California community for nearly 15 years. Known for his deeply compassionate and insightful approach, Dr. Keil has worked across a wide range of clinical settings—from hospital-based programs to community mental health clinics—and has extensive experience treating adolescents, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds.
His clinical training includes work with some of the most severe psychiatric cases, including individuals adjudicated as criminally insane at Patton State Hospital in Redlands, California.
Dr. Keil received rigorous clinical training through California’s leading institutions. He completed his doctoral internship at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles (LAMC) in the Department of Psychiatry, where he focused on treating complex trauma, anxiety, and depression in both adolescents and adults. He also completed a year-long rotation in the Chemical Dependency Recovery Program (CDRP), further deepening his expertise in addiction and substance use treatment.
Following his internship, Dr. Keil completed a post-doctoral residency at the VA Medical Center in Loma Linda, working with veterans facing PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. These formative experiences continue to shape his deeply relational and trauma-informed approach to care.
Currently, Dr. Keil is in private practice in Newport Beach, CA, and serves as a Professor of Psychology at Santiago Canyon College. He regularly supervises postdoctoral residents in clinical psychology and contributes thought leadership through published articles in major news outlets.
Dr. Keil specializes in psychodynamic, humanistic, and existential/phenomenological therapies, and is known for his depth-oriented approach. He treats a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, grief, and identity concerns in adolescents, young adults, and adults. His work often centers on building meaningful, healing relationships through insight, reflection, and emotional growth.
He also has a niche focus working with high-profile individuals, executives, and professional athletes as a sports and performance psychologist, blending clinical insight with peak-performance strategies.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Keil is a lifelong learner who continues to invest in ongoing education, supervision, and training to ensure his clients receive the highest quality care. He is passionate about the intersection of psychology, philosophy, and wellness—and is committed to helping people live more fulfilled, authentic lives.
When not in the office, Dr. Keil enjoys surfing, riding motorcycles, reading, and staying active. He loves spending time with his wife and three kids.
